Brightons Blue Jakit Golf Outing - Grangemouth Golf Course
The infamous 'Blue Jakit' was up for grabs once again at Grangemouth Golf Course on Sunday 29th August 2010. Current holder Gordy failed to produce last years form and wasn't even close to keeping it for another year. Tambo clearly has a fondness for the jakit and he was once again in the running but had to settle for the runners up spot after he tied with Marky Newton who had a better inward nine to take first place.
Defending champion Gordy hands over the 'Blue Jakit' to new champion Newts with Steff looking on thinking what might have been.
Tambo did pick up the prize for closest to the pin in two at the 2nd and Steff took the prize for closest to the pin at the 15th.
A few highlights of the day included Big D looking dapper as usual in his bunnet, Unsound Sinky bringing out some notes he'd written down from watching his Kevin Craggs golf dvd. (RRP is £9.99 Sinky so you got yourself a bargain for a quid!!)
Si having an 8 footer for birdie at the first and 3 putting, Sound Sinky chipping in at the first for birdie, Pomphrey getting hit with a ball from the group behind him, Unsound Sinky having a 6 footer for birdie at the 6th and 3 putting, Newts hitting his tee shot in the water at the 7th and Unsound Sinky losing his cherished ball with the orange logo on the 13th.
The weather was fine and I think it's safe to say that another good day was had by all on the course. Only 3 points separated the top 6 in the end so it looks like the handicaps worked out not too bad in the end. Obviously Newts will be getting cut for next year though!! Good grub in the clubhouse afterwards and there was even enough left over in the kitty for a round for everyone. Many thanks again to Tambo for organinsing the day.

2009
After no outing in 2008 infamous 'Blue Jakit' was up for grabs again yesterday, Sunday 30th August 2009 at Grangemouth.
Despite an early morning practice round currently holder Tambo couldn't retain the jakit but he did put up a good defence and finished a respectable 3rd. It was his only mate Jim who was to pip him by 1 point in the runner up position with Gordy coming out on top by 3 clear points to take the jakit.

Defending champion Tambo hands over the 'Blue Jakit' to new champion Gordy.
Tambo was also close to the longest drive prize but fell just short of Gordy by a few yards. With no one hitting the green in 2 at the 2nd hole the closest to the pin prize doubled up on the 15th and it was a glorious 8 iron from big Barry to around 4 feet that took the spoils. The big man completed the job by sinking the putt for a birdie 2.
Tambo's day ended on a high note when he and his only mate Jim beat Pomphrey and Big D at the last hole in a wee side bet game they had in their group. Big D immediately paid Jim the £5 wager in the bar afterwards but Pomphrey seemed a bit more reluctant to part with his cash and I believe Tambo is still waiting to be squared up.
Gaz and Sinky only completed 15 holes before they had to head off but Jables was lucky enough to partner them in their 'duel in the drizzle' battle that ended all square on 107 shots each!! Some unfinished business there that can be completed next year.
Speaking of which, we agreed yesterday that it will be the same Sunday every year and probably best (money wise and travel wise) if we stick to Grangemouth, so get the date in your diary for next year - Sunday 29th August 2010 if you want to be in with a chance of the blue jakit.
